David Alonso made history as the first Colombian motorcycle World Champion with a commanding win in the Moto3 race at the Japanese Grand Prix. Alonso sealed the title with four races to go, coming into Sunday’s race with a 97-point lead. After a challenging start, he showed his pace on lap 9, setting the fastest lap and surging to victory, securing the championship.
Alonso was joined on the podium by Collin Veijer in second and Adrian Fernandez in third, Jose Antonio Rueda (Ajo) finishing fifth, Ryusei Yamanaka, sixth, Taiyo Furusato, ninth, and Stefano Nepa, tenth; all Alpinestars riders.
